FAQ
Frequently Asked Questions
Q: If I am not a medical professional but receive CPR training and I perform it wrong, or I decide not to help someone in need, can I be held liable?
A: No! Any bystander who provides aid to someone in good faith is covered under The Good Samaritan Laws. As long as you are not a medical professional and not going against your duty to act you have no legal obligation to help and there is no legal recourse that could be taken against you.
Q: I took a CPR or a First Aid Class and now I want to put together a First Aid Kit - can you help?
A: Absolutely! Your First Aid Textbook has all the information you need in it to help you set up a First Aid Kit for your home. Many of these items are available at your local pharmacy.
Q: What is your student minimum and maximum for a class?
A: CPR By Jeremy will provide training for as few as one student and will accommodate any size class you wish to hold.
However, CPR By Jeremy also recognizes the need to ensure every student receives an equal opportunity to ask questions and get help in learning the skills associated with CPR- for that reason we may ask for larger group classes to be set up as two separate sessions.
Q: When will I receive my course completion card?
A: For courses with e-cards (electronic certification cards) you will typically receive your course completion card on the same day as your training. However, since at times there can be delays we guarantee you will receive your card within 3 to 5 business days of completing your course (via e-mail).
For courses with paper cards, you can expect the card to arrive via US Mail within 30 days.
CPR By Jeremy will give you a letter on the date of your class advising of the training you have received. This will act as a temporary certificate while you wait for your card to be sent.
Q: Which training centers are you affiliated with?
CPR By Jeremy’s Training Center Affiliates:
-American Heart Association Training Center: Rockland County EMS in Pomona, NY
-American Safety & Health Institute / HSI Training Center: CPR By Jeremy LLC – New City, NY
Q: How long is my card valid for?
A: All certification and course completion cards are valid for a period of two years from the last day of the month in which you complete the program. However, there are some instances in which your state may require annual training.
Q: What is Blended Learning?
A: Blended Learning allows students to take the majority of their CPR Class online via the American Heart Association or American Safety & Health Institute website using a web link provided by CPR By Jeremy. After the online module is complete, students will then take an in person component which will include a skills analysis and allow you to obtain your card.
Blended eLearning is NOT considered an online course, since it requires a hands-on Skills Session with a live instructor.
Q: Where will the training class be offered?
A: CPR By Jeremy’s goal is to make CPR and First Aid Training easy for our students. In order to ensure our goal is met, CPR By Jeremy will go to any location in the NY Metro area to teach our classes.
Q: How does CPR By Jeremy accept payment for courses?
A: CPR By Jeremy typically requests payment via our online portal prior to the start of class. We will also however accept cash, personal checks, money orders, and Venmo on class day when requested in advance.
Q: What is your cancellation policy?
A: CPR By Jeremy will provide a full refund for course cancellations within 72 hours of your scheduled session. We allow partial refunds with less notice given. We do allow students to reschedule courses in certain situations. Please visit our Terms & Conditions Page for more details on our cancellation policy.
Important- if you are signed up for a Blended Learning class and CPR By Jeremy provided you with the online key code, there is a $40.00 fee if you chose to cancel once the code is activated- rescheduling is still available at no charge (as above).
Q: I’ve seen some online only CPR classes that offer “instant” certification and require no in-class or testing time. Do you offer those?
A: While these courses may give you some information about CPR and teach you the basics of CPR, these courses are not considered to be sufficient training by OSHA (The Occupational Safety & Health Administration) to meet their standards. Furthermore, these courses are not accepted by most employers. Be sure to check with your employer before booking a class that doesn’t require any classroom / skills testing.
Q: Will I have to share a manikin with someone else?
A: We will do everything in our power to ensure you do not have to share a manikin in our class. There may be some situations in which it is unavoidable and manikins must be shared. In those situations, bleach wipes will be available for each student to wipe down the manikins in between turns, and gloves will be worn by each student.
CPR By Jeremy currently owns 6 Adult and 6 Infant manikins which allows for ample opportunities for every student to use their own manikin.
Face shields are used regardless during all training classes.
Q: I took a course a few months ago and I lost my card, can I get a replacement?
A: Yes, CPR By Jeremy can get you a replacement card / replacement eCard. To request one, please call 845-444-CPR1. There is a small fee for lost card replacement. CPR By Jeremy does require payment for lost cards prior to us ordering / issuing your replacement card.
Q: Who should enroll in an AHA Heartsaver or ASHI Non-Healthcare Provider course?
A: AHA Heartsaver and ASHI Non-Healthcare Provider courses should be taken by anyone with limited or no medical training who needs a course completion card in either first aid, CPR, or both to meet job, regulatory, or other requirements. Some examples of people who will benefit from Heartsaver training include restaurant staff, school teachers, teachers aids, coaches, boat captains, gym personal trainers, and daycare staff.
Q: Who should take a Healthcare Provider CPR Course (either through AHA or ASHI)?
A: CPR By Jeremy recommends that students check with their employers/recruiters/schools to determine which certification they need. CPR By Jeremy is not responsible for a student’s class selection. However, if your occupation falls below, we strongly recommend enrolling in the BLS Healthcare Provider CPR class.
